Alarm License Application & Renewal

Welcome to the City of Grand Forks Emergency Alarm License Process. Grand Forks PSAP oversees the process for the issuance of alarm permits as governed by Grand Forks City Code (Grand Forks City Code, Article 19. Emergency Alarm Systems, 21-1901 through 21-1916). Alarm Licenses are required for:

  1. Alarm Vendors – businesses which sell, lease, maintain, service, repair, install, and monitor alarms.
  2. Emergency Alarm Users – residential homes, businesses, commercial, and all other property that have any active alarm system in which emergency responders are requested to respond upon activation of the alarm.

For all new alarm licenses:

  1. Complete Application
    1. The application must be completed in full, and it will be forwarded to the Alarm Administrator for review.
  2. Payment and Key-holder List
    1. Upon review, a payment link & information will be forwarded to complete the process online.
  3. Approval
    1. Once payment is process, notification will be sent, and the permit may be printed.

For Renewals:

  1. Payment and Key-holder List
    1. No annual application is required for renewals. A reminder will be sent with a payment link and a link to the Key-holder form to complete the process online.
  2. Approval
    1. Once payment is processed, notification will be sent, and the permit may be printed.

For updating Key-holder/after hour contacts:

  1. The Key-holder form may be completed online and all information will be forwarded to the Alarm Administrator to update the information on file.

Fees (per calendar year):

  1. Emergency Alarm Permit: $42.00
  2. Alarm Vendor Permit: $105.00
  3. False Alarm Activation Fee: Please refer to the ordinance, 21-1915 Additional Permit charges for full information.
